Dr Blackstock Begins Her Lecture

Executive Director of First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada Visits Six Nations

03/05/15 - A collaborative effort from the field of Social Work/Services brought Dr. Cindy Blackstock to the Grand River Room of Six Nations' Polytechnic Institute.

Delivering her lecture for the evening entitled: Reconciliation - The Children's Version, Dr. Blackstock via powerpoint presentation showed examples of how First Nations Children are being unjustly placed in situations, detrimental to their well-being and development.

Approximately 200 people heard Dr. Blackstock's Lecture, noting the case of Jordan's Principle as evidenced by this tweet directly from the evening as it happened.

This evening was made possible through the collaboration of: SN Social Services Admin. and SN Child and Family Services, Six Nation Polytechnic, McMaster Indigenous Studies Program, McMaster School of Social Work and the Social Work Field Instruction Committee.
