Another meeting to discuss the impacts of the proposed First Nations Education Act was held on December 18.

Continuing the Conversation: First Nation Education Act

12/18/13 – About 24 people gathered in the Cayuga language room in the Six Nations Polytechnic Institute. As of December 5, 2013, the conversation was continuing and the proposed First Nations Education Act (FNEA) was targeted.

Six Nations Chief Ava Hill called on people to reject the proposed Education Law. “It’s time to develop Six Nations’ own education law,” she added.

At the Dec.18 meeting, Councillor Helen Miller pointed out that funding was needed. Chief Hill aimed to seek support from all groups. The focus must begin with fundamentals including full language immersion.
