02/21/12 – At their General Council Meeting on February 21, 2012, Six Nations Elected Council presented Barry and Cheryle Hill with a plaque to honour their selection as Family Farm of the Year for Brant County.
Barry Hill is well known throughout Six Nations, Brantford and Brant County area. Along with farming, he also participates in various committees of Council and organizations. This includes the Six Nations Farmers Association and various agriculture organizations spread throughout the Brantford and Brant County region.
This plaque is not his first from Council. Last year, Barry Hill was recognized as a Six Nations Community Treasure along with fellow recipient Derek Miller.
Accompanied by wife Cheryle, Barry accepted the plaque from District 3 Councillor Ross Johsnon. In his acceptance speech, he shared a few words from Chief Seattle’s Oration including: “Every part of this soil is sacred in the estimation of my people.”
