On April 16, 2010, soil was turned to mark the beginning of construction of a new Six Nations Water Treatment Plant. The state-of-the-art plant is expected to be in operation in October or earlier.

Six Nations Water Plant Construction in Final Stages

07/16/2013 Constructed in 1987, the old water plant and dedicated employees kept the current Six Nations water plant operating and delivering good water. Water Plant Operator of the Year, Steve Lickers, and his dedicated staff kept, the old plant operating in a safe manner.

Six Nations Elected Council recognized the need to have a new water treatment plant. Over more than a decade, they worked with the federal government before finally receiving some funding. In order to get construction underway, Council took out a loan to purchase needed construction supplies.

By mid-October, community members will be drinking water that filtered through the new state-of-the-art water treatment plant.

With the finish line in sight, construction continues. When it is completed, the plant will be operating and ribbons will be cut.
