January 10, 2025 OHSWEKEN, ON – The Jordan’s Principle team at Six Nations has been directed by Indigenous Services Canada “that Nations and organizations only make payments for individual requests with funds from an approved group application for Service Access Resolution Funds (SARF). If your Nation or organization’s group application for SARF has not yet been approved, we ask that you do not make payments to fulfill individual requests”.
Unfortunately, the Six Nations Child & Youth Health Team has not received approval from Indigenous Services Canada and have been directed to no longer make payments to fulfill individual Jordan’s Principle applications. All payments to vendors or purchase of approved equipment/items will go through Indigenous Services Canada until our application is approved. This includes all newly approved applications and any remaining payments on approved applications for the following items:
- Furniture & Appliances
- Clothing Support
- Utilities
- Tutoring
- Therapy & Assessments (Speech, Occupational Therapy, Equine Therapy, DBT)
- Tuition Support
- Recreation
- School Supplies
- Household items
- Respite
- Mileage
- Non-medical transport
- Vision Care
- Educational Assistants
- Renovations
Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council will continue to provide limited support for the following items while we await a decision from Indigenous Services Canada:
- Food supports
- Emergency housing support
- Counselling/mental health support
- Nursing/medical/Personal Support Workers (including transport)
- Hygiene products/diapers
The Six Nations Jordan’s Principle team has been contacting families directly to discuss what this means for each individual family and application. If you have not received a call yet or have further questions, please call your Jordan’s Principle Navigator or the Child & Youth Health Office: (519) 445-4983. For continued payment support and support on newly approved applications from Indigenous Services Canada, clients may contact the Jordan’s Principle Hotline: 1 (855) 572-4453 or Ontario Region Jordan’s Principle Focal Point: 613-618-1833 / 1-833-442-2429 and choose option 3 for finance.
